The project was awarded the Honor Award for Excellence in Irrigation by the American Society of Irrigation Consultants.
This mixed-use project is located in the heart of San Francisco’s Western SOMA district. The complex is comprised of 7 buildings. One building has ground floor commercial topped with 4 floors of residential lofts. The remaining buildings are residential from the ground floor up with all ground floor units opening to the outside.
The site includes a system of pocket plazas, raised planters, outdoor café and central promenade green space which provides opportunities for social gathering within a busy urban neighborhood.
There is also an extensive irrigated green roof.
The irrigation is supplied by two 25,000 gallon underground rainwater catchment tanks. The tanks are located under the outdoor café patio.
Firm Role
Water Conservation and Sustainability were core elements in the Program Requirement for the site.
To meet Sustainability goals, complex alternative water demand modeling and analysis were performed which led to specifying two 25,000 gallon rainwater catchment tanks.
Irrigation Services included Planning, Demand Analysis, System Design, Construction Documents, Coordination with the catchment system manufacturer and Contract Administration.
Brookwater provided irrigation specifications and water use calculations in conformance with the San Francisco PUC and LEED.
